Natural Radioactivity in Thermal Waters: A Case Study from Poland
نویسندگان
چکیده
A natural radioactivity in thermal water was investigated based on 19 selected waters from Poland. The analysed results show that the radionuclides’ concentrations study vary over a wide range. temperature of varies above 20 °C to 80 °C. are characterised by different mineralisation, chemical compositions, and belong hydrochemical types. There is good correlation between depths aquifer formations occurrence, suggesting energy originates geogradient. concentration radium well correlated with mineralisation. ratio activity (226Ra/228Ra) groundwater relates not only uranium thorium (238U/232Th) formation, but also depends physical properties. Based radon its transport model, radiation exposures due inhalation 222Rn progeny for employees clients spa were assessed. use as drinking resource may be problematic possibility exceeding recommended annual committed effective dose 0.1 mSv.

Radioactivity of Honeys from Poland After the Fukushima Accident
Concentration of radioactive isotopes in honey constitutes an important bioindicator of environmental radiation. One hundred six honey samples were collected from hives and from bottled honey provided by beekeepers from north-eastern Poland in 2010, before the Fukushima accident, and during the two-year period directly following this catastrophe (2011-2012). Cesium-137 (Cs-137) and potassium-40...
متن کاملStudy of natural radioactivity to Assess of radiation hazards from soil samples collected from Mounana in south-east of Gabon
Background: The present work aims to determine the activity concentrations of 226Ra, 233Th and 40K in soil samples collected in Mounana in the Southeastern region of Gabon, to evaluate the contribution of the natural. Materials and Methods: An HPGe p-type detector coupled with a multichannel analyzer DSA-1000 was used to perform measurements and process data. Data acquisition and analysis were ...
متن کاملNatural radioactivity distribution and soil properties: a case study in southern Italy
Mapping environmental radioactivity from field gamma-ray spectrometry is a valuable tool for understanding and interpreting pedological control of naturally occurring radioactivity. Soil properties and water content affect the behaviour of natural radioactivity. The main aim of the study were to explore and map the activity of three naturally occurring radionuclides (Th, U, K) in an olive orcha...
متن کاملThermal Behavior of a Natural Sepiolite from Northeastern Iran
Sepiolite deposits have been recently discovered in northeastern Iran. However, there is still little information about its physicochemical and mineralogical characteristics. Therefore, the collapse of the sepiolite (with sizes of < 63 μm) structure induced by temperature elevation in an electric furnace at 350, 550, and 850 °C for 4 hours was studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD) in combinatio...
متن کاملNatural radioactivity in Indian vegetation samples
Background: Vegetation (food stuff) is grown in soil that contains many radioactive elements such as 238U (uranium), 232Th (thorium) and 40K (potassium), which may get deposited either due to radioactive fallout or/and by absorption from the soil and can pose serious health hazards. Materials and Methods: Natural radioactivity, radiological hazards and annual effective dose assessment was carri...
